Silent Echoes Introduction

As he gained eyesight, which had also been altered, he watched in horror as the veins that were once in his arms began to swell and budge through the chain mail. They turned black as some form of liquid made its way towards his hands, dripping from the pores. His fingers turned black as coal, and stiffened like rocks, yet the black liquid still dripped. It began to form tendrils into an object he was very familiar with. It was forming a sword, with a freshly made eye blinking into existence between the hilt and blade.
Without notice, great shoulder coverings tore through his shoulders, rending skin and muscle without effort. The black liquid that was now his new blood dripped off of the shoulder armor to reveal black metallic finishing. Worst of all, he could feel growth, something growing out of his throat. The next time he opened his eyes, he realized they were just that - a set of eyes, blinking just as the one on the sword did. With haste he sucked the sword back into his body, which seemed to take away some, if little, of the cold. His new body stopped convulsing now, motionless as the final bits of armor made themselves on his body. For a moment, he had thought that he didn't survive, as the ground around him shuddered, and swallowed him whole.
The fighters in the distance who could tear their eyes off of the macabre sight took the advantage in battle, striking their foes. The battle was short lived as the black lightning came down in columns, from the location of the mountains, making its way to the fresh grave that Daesalliss now occupied.
Some of the ghouls who could afford to break from battle made their way towards the sight where black lightning was circling in the same manner that the twisting nether did. They hissed, raspy shrieks coming from their lipless mouths. Some covered their eyes and took some paces back; the more foolish ones came closer to the grave, awaiting final death.
The ground sighed as the black lightning intensified, sucking out all illumination in the area. A hand jutted up from the rocky ground, sending debris skyward.
